Montréal, QC — The West Island Assistance Fund (WIAF) is proud to announce that Bijoy Kothari and Kris Zimmerman are joining the organization’s Board of Directors, and welcomes back returning director Irene Micak. These appointments bring invaluable expertise in strategic planning, legal governance, and retail operations supporting WIAF’s mission to alleviate food insecurity and foster sustainable community development across the West Island.

Bijoy Kothari brings leadership in strategic planning and data-driven fundraising, alongside hands-on experience in community partnerships and project implementation from his aerospace and volunteer background.

Kris Zimmerman brings several years of legal expertise in commercial and corporate transactions, which will reinforce governance and risk management as WIAF develops Project CASA and new community initiatives.

Returning director Irene Micak renews her commitment to operational excellence and human resources, supported by her background managing retail and thrift services a cornerstone of WIAF’s impact.

Since 1966, WIAF has provided essential support to vulnerable individuals and families. With Board members like Bijoy, Kris, and Irene, we’re strengthening our capacity to fight hunger, enhance dignity, and grow key programs from our Food Bank and Garden of Hope to community kitchens, thrift operations, and other services.
