How do I get access to food?

To become a member at our food bank you need to be a resident of the West Island. This excludes the cities of Dorval, Senneville and Baie D’Urfé. You also need proof of identity and proof of income. The proof of income can be a notice of assessment from the provincial government and if you are a newcomer, it can be a bank statement.

We are located at 23 Centre Commercial St, Roxboro, QC H8Y 2N9.

I have some food to donate, what do I do?

We always appreciate and are in need of food donations. Please consider donating non-perishable, shelf-stable items. Nonperishable food donations can be dropped at 23 Centre Commercial St. during regular office hours or in special cases by appointment by calling our main office at (514) 683-0456.

It is always a good idea to call ahead as some days we may be short staffed.

I have some good conditioned clothing items and small household items to donate, what do I do?

Please drop off clothing and small household item donations to our thrift store located at 21 Centre Commercial St. Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Do you accept volunteers?

Yes! We are always in need of volunteers to help run our thrift shop and food bank. Apply today under the “Become a Volunteer” tab.

Is the West Island Assistance Fund a trusted organization?

Yes! We have existed since 1966 and we have been helping to serve the community for 56 years. We are currently helping to serve 361 households and a total of 1,130 beneficiaries.

Why should I support the WIAF?

We help provide services that foster the independence of our members. We also offer food, clothing and hygiene products to those in need and encourage the development of initiatives that help meet the basic needs of the community.

What is “Food insecurity”?

Food insecurity is where someone has limited access to available food due to costs and other factors. It is when a household lacks consistent access to food for everyone within the household to live a healthy and balanced life. This living situation can be temporary for a household or last a long time.
