The health of our employees, volunteers, clients and our community is important to us.
For this reason, we decided not to open our organization the West Island Aid Fund (WIAF) on April 6, 2021 as soon as we were informed of a possible case of COVID-19 among our employees and remain closed until a clear picture of the situation was established.
Fortunately, the few employees affected are doing much better. We are in regular communication with them and all have followed government guidelines for quarantine. In order to understand what happened and to ensure the health and safety of our employees, volunteers and members, the WIAF board of directors met.
Several measures are currently being evaluated so that this event does not recur. We also rented an additional local so that our office staff have more space to work from. Likewise, the CIUSSS West Island COVID-19 Brigade is supporting us in a safe recovery. We are aware that the closure not only impacted our employees, but also our volunteers and members of our food bank. We want to reiterate our commitment to you and let you know that you can always count on us.
We have learned from this experience and rest assured: we will be an example to follow in the future. We look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 9:30 am to serve you again in complete safety! We thank you for your support and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach me by email. It will be a pleasure to answer you.
